Served me curry in the gallery
As I was about to take a bite
Heard do-good theories beside of me
I left my food, lost my appetite
A Buddhist artist, a Thai
The cooker of the curry
Said, “It’s a tasty recipe
Taught by my grandmother”
I don’t like Rirkrit, no, no
I love him, yeah
I don’t like your bean curd
Don’t mean no disrespect
I don’t like your tofu
If this dish is an art object
Well he looked ‘round the museum space
Said, “It’s a good place for camping”
I said, “You’ve got to be jokin’ man
The sign says clearly No Smoking”
He said, “Let’s do it, you’ll like it
We’ll pitch the tent right here
I got rice noodles, a camp stove
You’d better understand that you’re alone
With a gastronome”
I crawled out of my sleeping bag
Needing fresh air and a shower
I heard his soft voice beside me say
“Art and life are a river
And I’ve got a wok in my rucksack
My cookin’ is the best
And if you try it, you’ll like it
My artwork is a Pad Thai takeaway”
